I've been hitting my head against a brick wall for a few weeks regarding an intermittent issue we're having with Word.
Users seem to get to a point where they can't open any word documents from the history, create new letters or do anything to do with word. It seems to be intermittent and may resolve itself the next day.

We've exhausted all options with Eclipse. The only option left is to disable error reporting services on Windows but we're not keen on this as it'll affect everything system wide.
Has anyone else had this issue and had any luck fixing it? Running 3.3.1 on Feb 19 program files. OE 11.7

I've seen this a couple of years ago, after going through similar steps to what you have suggested above, we fixed it just by restarting the Proclaim server believe it or not!
Not knowing the full infrastructure set up of your site, but I'd suggest this if not already done so. For us it cleared whatever the issue was, whether it be a corrupt file, or a bottle necked process or cache.
