How to send documents in XML using Web Services

Post by revellbikes » Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:35 am

I though thought I'd document something I've learnt today:

Sending an embedded document via web servcies within an XML template.

Pre-requisites: You must have already setup an embedded document field and Incomming Mail Phrase for this to work.

1). In XML Template Maintenance add your Embedded Document Field to the template as you would any other field.
2). Then Highlight the field and select "More" from the right hand side menu.
3). Select "Descrip" and hit New.
4). Ensure the bottom radio button is selected "User Def" and then input "Export Embedded Doc"
5). Once saved this should now export your document rather than just the document code.

Any questions let me know :geek:

Hi there

sorry to jump on a post from so long ago but ive just tried this, the scenario i have is that i need to send about ten fields and five docs in an export. i thought this would be the answer. i followed the instructions but rather than receiving a document in my export folder i just got an xml file full of jargon. am i missing something ?

thanks

I suspect you're seeing a Base64 encoded version of your documents.

So you need to decode it for the documents to make sense on the recipient system.
