? used in maths

Post by alibrandham » Thu Jan 31, 2019 11:02 am

Can anyone explain why a "?" would be used in maths, instead of either = "" or <>

IF a = ? THEN
RESULT = b * -1
END

Many thanks
Ali

The example above doesn't define variable a or b, so the code is invalid.

The only time I've seen "?" used is testing whether a date is blank. In Proclaim you can input "?" in a date field to blank it on screen.

So for completeness you can do

IF {DATE} = "" OR {DATE} = "?" THEN...
