XML Import

Post by galexander » Wed Mar 21, 2018 3:34 pm

Anyone have any experience of importing from xml?

Have set up xml data template within Proclaim which exports data successfully to xml format. To test import I clear the Proclaim fields and have set up an Import routine to try and import the same xml file but it fails to import any of its data.

Here are the example steps I follow to import the XML file but I am not sure whether all the steps are required.

1) I create the XML data template. However I also create my XSD file (not sure whether needed). Also marked <Start> as case block in my example below. Others can comment. Also I am not sure where it is stored as you don't see it after selection.

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<xs:element name="Start">
  <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
      <xs:element name="mycase" type="xs:string"/>
      <xs:element name="myfield" type="xs:string"/>
       </xs:sequence>
  </xs:complexType>
</xs:element>
</xs:schema>
Also create my test XML file for this definition.

My XML definition is

Code: Select all

<Start>
<mycase>case.key</mycase>
<myfield>test.text</myfield>
</Start>
2) create import/export as data type of XML and selected the above template. You can't see the XML import in Data as you can with CSV files. I don't know why.

3) create Directory Monitor associated with the above job. Place your test XML file and process it. It should update the case.

This is the basic for XML Data Import.
