[Sticky] List of Import/Export Extra Instructions

Post by proclaimadmin » Thu Oct 02, 2014 10:58 am

We will compile a list of the Extra instructions that can be applied to an Import/Export template.
If you wish to contribute, please reply to this post and we will add your contribution to the list.
Many are given in Tech4 manual. Occasionally some are not mentioned in the manual, which you should use at your own risk!

Use Case Number as Filename for export

Post by proclaimadmin » Thu Oct 02, 2014 11:42 am

you may wish to export case details to a file whose name is given by the case reference.
There are a few approaches which involve renaming or using the COPY-FILE command in proclaim maths. This one uses an ExtraInstruction given in the Import/Export job:
UseCaseNumberAsFilename
see caveats here regarding permissions needed:

UseUniqueFileNames

Post by proclaimadmin » Fri Jan 22, 2016 3:47 pm

UseUniqueFileNames enables Proclaim to create a new, unique filename every time the export job is run, to prevent export files being overwritten each time it is run.

RemoveExistingCaseDiskFile

Post by proclaimadmin » Fri Jan 22, 2016 3:48 pm

Added as a safety measure when importing a file in OVERWRITE mode so as not to delete existing cases accidentally

For export CSV files created via Task Server, this will add a header line to the CSV, containing the field names

PreserveDocumentCode

Post by proclaimadmin » Fri Jan 22, 2016 3:50 pm

Tells proclaim to maintain the document codes for imported documents into the history

Please Note: There is a danger in using this instruction as duplicate document codes can cause abnormal results.
